Types of Volunteer Opportunities

 

Administrative Assistant (2 volunteers)
Wednesday mornings or Friday afternoons

Volunteers will maintain charts including filing, faxing, making copies. Volunteers will check voicemail, data entry and other duties as requested.

Adult Health Center Task Force

Volunteers who serve in the medical field are selected to serve on this committee to help determine the direction and services of the Adult Health Center.

Chiropractor

Licensed Chiropractors provide free services to the angels of CCA.  May set up their own schedule.

Dental Assistant

Volunteers who are trained as Dental Assistants work along the volunteer Dentists to assist in the Dental Clinic.
Requirements: Must submit to a background check and be certified as a Dental Assistant.


Dental Services Assistant (4 volunteers)
Friday 8 a.m.-12 p.m. or 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

Volunteers can commit to a schedule according to their availability. Volunteers will obtain patient vital signs, sterilize dental instruments, set up dental trays, take inventory of supplies and assist dentist with procedures.

Requirements:  Must submit to a background check and be certified as a Dental Assistant.

Dental Sealant Coordinators (2 volunteers)
April-May

September–November 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. weekly

Volunteers will call schools in Lewisville to arrange dental sealant program for September through November.  They will also help to recruit volunteers for the program. The coordinators are responsible for taking and setting up equipment for the programs and help screen the children. 

Requirements:  Must submit to a background check and 9-month commitment

Dentist
Licensed Dentist will provide dental services, cleaning, exams, filling cavities and extractions to the clients of CCA. Can commitment to a self-determined schedule.
Requirements: Must submit to a background check

Diabetic Education
Volunteer will work with the clients of CCA either one on one or provide educational classes regarding the disease of Diabetes.
Requirements: Must submit to a background check and be certified.

Dietician
Volunteers will work with clients of CCA either one on one or provide educational classes regarding proper nutrition and basic health practices.
Requirements: Must submit to a background check and be certified.

Doctor/Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner (6 volunteers)
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 8 a.m.-12 p.m. or 1-5 p.m. (4 volunteers)
Thursday 12-5 p.m. or 3-7 p.m. (2 volunteers)

Family medicine or internal medicine doctor to provide services to the clients of CCA. Can commit to a self-determined schedule. 

Requirements:  Must submit to a background check.

Health Educator (2 volunteers)
Flexible schedule

Volunteers will help coordinate and facilitate seminars on health awareness and chronic medical conditions.  Must have experience in health education.

Health Fair Volunteer
Volunteers can assist with the planning of the fair by securing vendors, door prizes and other logistics. Volunteers can also work the day of the fair.

Massage Therapist
Certified Massage therapist provides services to the clients of CCA. Can commitment to a self determined schedule. Requirements: Must submit to a background check and be certified.

Nurse – RN or LVN (10 volunteers)
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 8 a.m.-12 p.m. or 1-5 p.m.  (8 volunteers)
Thursday 12-5 p.m. or 3-7 p.m. (2 volunteers)

A weekly 4-hour commitment, volunteers will admit patients, coordinate meds with Medical Assistance Program, prepare for procedures, give shots, draw blood, discharge patients and other duties as needed.

Requirements: Additional meeting with Volunteer department must submit to a background check and 3-month commitment.

Ophthalmic
Volunteers will work and assist in the Optometry clinic. Requirements: Must submit to a background check and be certified.

Optometry
Volunteers provide optometry services to the clients of CCA. Can commitment to a self determined schedule. Requirements: Must submit to a background check and licensed.

Prescreener – Medical Interviewer
Volunteers will meet with potential clients and review their eligibility to be served in the Adult Health Clinic. Requirements: Must submit to a background check.

Spanish Interpreter (2 volunteers)
Mondays and Tuesdays

Volunteers will be available to translate between medical staff and patient.

Requirements: Must submit to a background check.

Student Intern
Students who are currently in classes studying a medical field can serve in the clinic either for an internship, externship, or just to gain experience in their field of study. Requirements: Must submit to a background check

Wellness Coordinators (2 volunteers)
Flexible schedule

Volunteers will provide classes on exercise and weight management and assist with coordinating CCA’s Health Fairs.
