School's food drive helps needy familiesStudents at Wellington Elementary School in Flower Mound collected 55 frozen turkeys and over 15 shopping carts with all the trimmings during their 5th Turkey Drive.
The food drive helped Christian Community Action agency assemble holiday meal boxes for Thanksgiving and for the upcoming Christmas season.
"What started as me collecting a few turkeys and some groceries from neighbors each Thanksgiving has grown into something really amazing," said Wellington's Community Assistance Coordinator Jennifer Gross. "In the past five years Wellington has collected over 350 turkeys and at least 65 grocery carts full of the trimmings. We've been able to help a lot of families over the years. I'm really proud of what we've accomplished."
