Career counseling

Finding a job is a challenging process. The ability to maintain a positive attitude in the pursuit of work is a skill that for some must be taught.

Christian Community Actions Job Search Program is designed to help unemployed individuals obtain the necessary tools needed to successfully find work.  Weekly informational workshops are provided in a supportive and caring environment to help assist individuals in their job hunting, in creating resumes, sharpening their interviewing skills, and retaining employment.

Vocational classes provide an opportunity for participants to increase their viability in the marketplace. Class offerings vary depending on the needs of the participants and the availability of volunteer instructors. Current classes include: computer training, general educational development (GED), finance management classes, English as a second language (ESL) among others.

  
 

Computer Training

Keyboarding
Purpose: To introduce student to the use of the keyboard, Microsoft Office, and to generate a typing speed of 25 words per minute
Schedule: 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. every Monday
Duration: Open - ended (student can continue until typing speed is met)
Staff: Volunteer Instructor

Microsoft Word I
Purpose: To introduce participant to basic operations. Create, edit and print documents. Learn how to perform text alignments and enhancements. Formatting, editing, columns, tables, merge and working with multiple page
documents
Schedule: 7:00 - 8:30 every Tuesday
Duration: 8 weeks
Staff: Volunteer Instructor

 Microsoft Office Excel
Purpose: To introduce participant to all computer functions using workbooks.
Schedule: 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday
Duration: 6 weeks
Staff: Volunteer Instructor

General Education Development (GED)
Purpose: To provide all of the necessary instruction needed for each participant to successfully pass the State administered GED test. Each unit of the State test is taught in class with the entire supporting pre and post test.

Schedule: 6:00-8:00pm  every Monday & Wednesday or 10:00-12:00 noon every Tuesday or Thursday               
Duration: 24 weeks
Staff: Volunteer Instructor

English as a Second Language  (ESL)

Purpose: To allow students to become more marketable in the work place and participate in the education process of their children

Schedule: 4 classes per week ; Tuesdays & Thursdays
Duration: Open-ended
Staff: Volunteer Instructors

Crown Financial Ministries Program

Purpose: To introduce participant to all aspects of money management. “Discovering God’s way of handling money”  

Schedule: 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Thursdays
Duration: 8 weeks
Staff: Volunteer Instructor
