A Letter From our President

God has been good to Christian Community Action!  Since its inception more than 33 years ago, CCA has been instrumental in addressing the needs of the underprivileged in Southern Denton County by helping them develop the skills to get back on their feet both financially and spiritually.  I am so honored to begin my journey in leading this wonderful ministry, following the footsteps of two great men who over the years have molded it into such a strong advocate for good in our community.

Tom Duffy, founder and the original President of CCA, had the phenomenal vision to oversee the massive growth of this organization from its humble origins in a residential garage to our current headquarters in downtown Lewisville. He grew CCA’s thrift operations from a simple volunteer-run storefront to three full-scale Resale stores that now earn more than $5 million each year to benefit our families.  And the numbers of those families we help has expanded dramatically from just a handful in 1973 to more than 15,000 individuals this past year.  Through it all Tom was able to see that God had great plans for this agency, and he had the courage to boldly step out in faith to make it all happen.

Taking the baton from Tom in 2003, Ed Johnson stepped in to achieve significant accomplishments at CCA.  As CEO, he has dramatically raised the profile of our organization, while significantly increasing the number of families served and broadening the range and depth of services offered to help them.  He brought in hundreds of new friends and supporters who have lovingly given of their time, talent and treasure to place CCA on sound financial footing.  Ed’s tremendous reputation in the community and his drive and unparalleled leadership skills have made an indelible imprint on the future of this organization, and we are encouraged to know that he will continue to have a significant impact by serving as Board Chairman.

As you can see, given the incredibly strong foundation that has been established here at CCA, we have nowhere to go but up!  God has His hand firmly on the reins of our ministry, and we will continually follow His will in all that we do.  As we seek to expand the level of services we offer to those people who most need us, we will continue to search for ways to bolster the futures of our families by linking our support with responsible actions on their part.  We will always treat them with dignity and work cooperatively with them to increase the chances that they may one day thrive independently.  With our new chaplain Paul Lucido, our spiritual mentoring teams, and the loving hearts of all our dedicated staff and volunteers, it is also our goal to look for opportunities to encourage the spiritual growth of our families, which is vitally important to their success.

We pledge to all of our friends and supporters that we will be excellent stewards of all that we receive, wringing every last dollar of value out of the many resources they entrust to us to carry out the tremendous work we seek to do in the name of our Lord.  We are thrilled to partner with so many who share our passion to serve others.  Please join us wherever and however you are able as we minister to families in our community who find themselves in crisis situations.  We want to do all we can to give them a hand up, reaching out in love and compassion so that they can achieve the great plans that God has in store for them.
